Wind Warning For South Niagara

Special weather statement for St. Catharines, Winter Storm Warning for Buffalo

Don't forget to batten down the hatches before you leave home this morning

Environment Canada has issued a wind warning for the southern Niagara region, including Niagara Falls and Welland. 

A cold front sweeping through southern Ontario today will bring wind gusts up to 90 km/h starting this afternoon through tonight. 

The weather office says power outages are possible. 

The weather office has issued a Special Weather Statement for St. Catharines and Grimsby regions warning of winds gusting between 70 and 80 km/h this afternoon.

Meantime, our neighbours across the border are under a Winter Storm Warning

Erie and Genesee counties are forecast to get their first blast of lake effect snow starting tonight until Friday morning.

Buffalo meteorologists say snow amounts of 10 to 15 inches (25 to 38 cm) are possible.
