White House Responds to Reports Claiming U.S. Wants Border Re-opened in June

The White House says the U.S. hasn't made any decisions regarding when or how to re-open the border with Canada.

Press Secretary Jen Psaki responded to reports that the country wants the border to re-open in June.

She says she's not aware of any decisions being made in relation to the border since last week's announcement that restrictions would be extended to June 21st.

A media report released yesterday out of Point Roberts, Washington, cited anonymous U.S. Customs and Border Protection sources as saying the closure would end by June 22nd.

Meanwhile, the pressure to re-open the border has amped up.

Several U.S. lawmakers, including New York Representative Brian Higgins and Vermont Governor Phil Scott, say it's time for the two countries to work together on a plan to lift border restrictions.
