West Nile Virus

Positive cases of West Nile virus in three batches of mosquitoes have been confirmed by Niagara Region Public Health officials.

The positive cases are Niagara’s first confirmations in 2022, but so far public health said no human cases have been reported.

The positive mosquito pools were found in Niagara Falls, St. Catharines and Thorold.

Public health physician Dr. Joanne Kearon is warning residents to take necessary precautions to prevent potential exposure to the virus.
