West Lincoln Votes Against Investigating Councilor Who Participated in Freedom Convoy

Council decides not to ask integrity commissioner to determine if councilor who participated in Ottawa protest violated its code of conduct.

West Lincoln council has voted against asking the integrity commissioner to look into the actions of councilor Harold Jonker, who participated in the freedom convoy protests in Ottawa.

A probe launched by councilors Cheryl Gannan and William Reilly would have looked into whether Jonker violated council's code of conduct policy, as well as a "welcome back party" that occurred on Monday night, where a long line of trucks and other vehicles honked throughout the town.

However, as reported by CBC News, council voted against the probe, with five members, including Jonker, voting it down.

Jonker, who owns Jonker Trucking Inc., was also recently called out by Reilly for missing multiple council meetings due to his participation in the demonstration.

Meanwhile, Mayor Dave Bylsma tells the CBC that Jonker hasn't been charged or fined for attending the protest.
