Vaccine Appointments Double

Spike in appointments after province announces vaccine certificate system

As the province prepares to introduce a vaccine passport later this month, it appears to be having its desired effect, forcing those sitting on the fence to book a vaccine appointment. 

Provincial health officials say vaccine appointments more than doubled in the 24 hours after the province announced it was introducing the passport needed to get into public spaces like bars and restaurants. 

According to the Ministry of Health, Ontarians had made 3,479 appointments using the provincial booking portal on Aug. 31st. 

The next day that number jumped to 7,125. 

And it comes as cases of COVID 19 spiked yesterday. 

The province reporting 865 new infections with Niagara Public Health reporting another 32 new cases .
