Two More Niagara Catholic Schools Go Virtual

Board moves two more schools to virtual learning for the remainder of the week.

Two more Niagara Catholic schools have returned to online classes for the remainder of the school week.

The board says due to challenges surrounding COVID-19, Saint Michael Catholic High School in Niagara Falls and Notre Dame College School in Welland will offer online classes only for the remainder of the week.

In a letter to parents, Education Director Camillo Cipriano says several measures are being taken in response to the rapid spread of the Omicron variant.

For all schools that remain open, parents can choose between in-person or online classes for kids.

As well, all in-person sports, activities and indoor school celebrations will be postponed until classes return in January.

The board also warns that more cases could be seen in schools this week, and kids may not have their usual teacher.

If there isn't enough staff to supervise children, there could be additional closures, so parents are urged to have another plan in case this happens at the last minute.
