Two Edmonton Police Officers Killed on the Job

Two Edmonton police officers were shot and killed early this morning while on duty

Two police officers in Edmonton have been shot and killed.

The city's police service says the officers died while responding to a call early this morning in central Edmonton.

The officers have been identified as Constable Travis Jordan, 35, and Constable Brett Ryan, 30.

Officials say just before 1:00 a.m., the officers were called to a family dispute in an apartment building.

They were shot as they approached the suite.

Police say the male suspect is also deceased, and investigators believe he died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

A female complainant related to the suspect, was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.

She is said to be in serious but stable condition.

Meanwhile, tributes to the officers are pouring in from across the country, including from Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

This is the first time since 2015 that an Edmonton police officer has been killed on the job.
