Town of Lincoln Teams Up With Police and Ministry of Transportation for Truck Safety Initiative

Police take 24 vehicles off the road during truck safety blitz

A truck inspection blitz in Niagara has led to 24 commercial vehicles being taken off the road. 

Police in Hamilton and Niagara teamed up with the Ministry of Transportation and the Town of Lincoln for the initiative. 

On March 21st and 22nd, a commercial vehicle safety blitz took place to target commercial vehicles bypassing the Vineland Inspection Station. 

Over 100 passenger and commercial vehicles were directed into the station, with 65 being inspected. 

As a result, 24 vehicles were removed from the highway after safety concerns were discovered. 

Three sets of license plates were seized, and 95 tickets were issued for offences like distracted driving, careless driving, speeding, improper tires and insecure load. 

Officers also stopped a speeding vehicle and came into contact with two people wanted on Canada wide immigration warrants. 

The driver and passenger were turned over to Canada Border Services Agency officers.
