Two Popular Streets Will Get New Names

City of Toronto/Facebook

One in Niagara Falls the other in Toronto

Niagara Falls city council has started the process of renaming Ryerson Crescent.

The move comes after an Indigenous family living on the street asked for the name change.

Egerton Ryerson was one of the primary architect's of Canada's residential school system.

And Toronto city council has voted to rename Dundas Street, Yonge-Dundas Square and any other public infrastructure bearing the name of Henry Dundas.

The 18th century Scottish politician delayed Britain's abolition of slavery by 15 years.

Toronto Mayor John Tory says the man never set foot in Canada, and  the city should not celebrate his legacy.
