Now Playing Three Degrees When Will I See You Again

Today is National Indigenous Peoples Day

Day will be celebrated across province including Fort Erie

The day was first recognized in 1996 and is a day for all Canadians to recognize and celebrate the unique heritage, diverse cultures and outstanding contributions of First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples.

The Fort Erie Native Friendship Centre will begin the day with a lighting ceremony.

The fire will remain lit throughout the day and members of the community are invited to come offer prayers to the fire.

The Native Centre says the theme this year is “Remembering the Children” with speakers discussing the impacts of residential schools.
