Today is National Aboriginal Veterans Remembrance Day

Flag on Parliament building raised last night and lowered today

Today we honour the sacrifices made by Indigenous Canadians over 200 years of military history

During the War of 1812m they were vital allies in the protection of Canada and since then thousand served bravely in both World Wars and the Korean War.

The day was established in Manitoba in 1994 and has since spread across the country to other provinces.

A ceremony to honour veterans was held Saturday in Queenston Heights Park.

Today we are asked to take a minute or two to pause and honour those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.
