Three New COVID-19 Cases in Niagara

We now have seven confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Niagara.

Public Health announced three new cases earlier today; a man in his sixties, a man in his forties and a woman in her twenties.

They all have a recent travel history.

The man in his sixties had recently travelled to the Philippines, while the man in his forties and the woman recently visited the United States.

They’re now in self-isolation at home.

Dr. Mustafa Hirji, Niagara's Acting Chief Medical Officer of Health, says we're not seeing local circulation of the virus in Niagara yet.

But he says it has occurred in other places in Ontario, so you should stay home and avoid non-essential trips into the community.

The province is reporting 85 new cases of COVID-19, which brings our province-wide total to 588.

Seven deaths have been reported across the province.

The latest death was a man in his 90s from the Durham Region.
