About 500 vehicles stopped in Welland and St. Catharines on Saturday night

Three drivers had their licenses temporarily suspended during R.I.D.E. checks this weekend.

On Saturday, officers stopped about 500 vehicles in Welland and St. Catharines, asking drivers if they had consumed any alcohol or drugs before getting behind the wheel.

Twenty-seven drivers were asked to provide a breath sample, and three drivers registered an alert.

Their licenses were suspended for three days.

Tickets were also issued for a variety of offences, including one driver who was charged for having cannabis readily available, and two drivers under 22 years old who had a blood alcohol level over zero.
