Talks To Get Underway to Reopen Border

Sources say U.S. and Canadian officials will meet to plan safe lifting of restrictions

There is hope Niagara families divided by the closure of the Canada US border to non essential travellers will soon be able to reunite.

Sources telling Reuters that U.S. and Canadian officials will meet starting today to discuss how to lift those restrictions.

The current border closure agreement is set to expire June 21st but industry officials on both sides of the 49th parallel don't expect any movement until the fourth of July.

Reuters reported earlier this month that the Biden administration was forming  working groups with Canada, Mexico, the European Union and the United Kingdom to determine how to safely restart travel after 15 months of pandemic restrictions.
