Survey Suggests Canadians Are Struggling to Cover the Cost of Food

Poll suggests more Canadians are using coupons, looking for sales and eating less.

A nationwide survey suggests Canadians are struggling to put food on the table.

The poll, which was conducted by the Canadian Hub for Applied and Social Research at the University of Saskatchewan, asked people how they were dealing with the rising cost of food.

Most respondents reported using coupons or looking for sale items.

Nearly 20 percent also said they are reducing the size of their meals, or skipping meals altogether.

Meanwhile, 54 percent of respondents said they have started to make meal-budget plans.
