St. Catharines Passes 2022 Operating Budget

Council approves a 2.97 percent tax increase

The average St. Catharines resident can expect to pay an extra $50 in city taxes next year. 

At last night's meeting, council approved a 2.97 percent increase in the City's portion of the tax bill, which comes to an extra $4.06 for the average homeowner. 

Council passed its $114.7 million operating budget last night, which includes investments in development charges initiatives and high quality programming at the FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre. 

This comes alongside the 2022 capital budget, which includes 2.3 million for active transportation projects like bike lanes and trails, $13.1 million for transportation and 4.4 million for recreation and parks renewal.
