St. Catharines Mental Health Clinic Offering No-Charge Mental Health Clinics

No-charge mental health clinics offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

A mental health clinic in St. Catharines is looking to provide support for low-income individuals.

Nomina Integrated Health says it's offering no-charge mental health clinics for anyone who would like to speak with an experienced therapist.

According to a recent study from Statistics Canada, low-income Canadians are 3 to 4 times more likely to rate their mental health as fair to poor.

We spoke with Lisa Klco, the Clinical Director at Nomina, who says untreated mental health conditions can have some serious consequences.

"One of the biggest things that we know is if you struggle with unsupported mental health conditions, there is higher emergency room use, higher medical visits, decreased social functioning, increased social isolation. All kinds of problems that would steam from that."

Appointments to see a therapist can be made for Tuesdays and Thursdays.

The organization also offers men's and women's group sessions.
