St. Catharines Man Charged in Theft

A 39 year old man is facing several theft-related charges.

Around 1:45 yesterday morning, police received a report of a man breaking into cars.

Officers attended a parking lot in St. Catharines near the intersection of Grantham Avenue and Facer Street.

A local resident had spotted a suspect running toward Winnifred Avenue after smashing the glass of parked cars.

One of the officers quickly noticed a flashlight being used near a home on Winnifred Avenue.

It was determined that the man with the flashlight was the suspect, and he was arrested.

The suspect, who tried to give the police a fake name, had a hammer, screwdriver and stolen property on him.

Timothy Douglas Ferguson of St. Catharines was charged with numerous offences including Trespass at Night, Theft Under $5,000 and Possession of Break and Enter Tools.

Damage done to the vehicles is estimated at over $5,000.

Anyone with information relating to the case is asked to contact detectives at 905-688-4111, extension 1024233.
