St. Catharines Council Says Yes to Accommodation Tax

Council says no to $2 flat rate and yes to 4 percent tax

It's going to get a little pricier to stay at a hotel or Airbnb in St. Catharines.

City council agreeing yesterday to a new tax on overnight stays that is expected to bring in one million dollars in revenue annually. 

Guests at hotels, motels, bed and breakfasts and short term rentals will be charged an additional four percent on their bill. 

The Municipal Accommodation Tax will go into effect August 1st.
