Special Weather Statement for Several Parts of the Province, Including Niagara

Snow or rain expected late Thursday into Friday

Some stormy weather in the forecast later this week.

A special weather statement has been issued for Niagara, as well as several other parts of the province.

Environment Canada says starting late Thursday, there could be snow or rain.

That could transition to rain late Friday.

Temperatures are also expected to plummet on Friday, leading to potential flashfloods for parts of the province that receive rainfall.

Locations east of the Great Lakes will get lake effect snow for a few days around the weekend.

The weather office says there could be utility outages.

However, exact details regarding wind speeds, precipitation types and amounts remain uncertain.

If you do plan to travel for the holidays, you're advised to have an emergency plan and carry an emergency kit with drinking water, food, medicine and a first aid kit.

The storm is also expected to hit parts of Western New York.
