Snow Squall Warning Called Off for South Niagara

Environment Canada has called off the snow squall warning for South Niagara.

But Meteorologist Gerald Cheng says we could still be in for a lot of snow this afternoon.

"Some areas especially around Fort Erie could get up to 20 centimetres of snow. The snow band has been moving around; it moved north earlier but it's slowly moving back south so it really is a localized phenomenon."

Cheng says the snow band should move south completely by the end of the afternoon.

But he says you should still drive carefully if you have to go somewhere.

"Even though when we have snow tires on, it's still pretty hard to see out there and it still takes more time to stop than usual. Our vehicles are not so good at gripping on snow, so just keep that in mind and be careful out there."
