Snow Parking in Effect in St. Catharines

A snow parking ban is about to take effect in St. Catharines.

St. Catharines residents are being reminded not to park on the street starting tonight at 11:00 p.m.

Environment Canada has issued a winter storm warning for the area, with 20 to 30 cm of snow expected tonight through tomorrow night.

Officials say due to a record-setting snowfall two weeks ago, the impacts of the predicted snowfall could be greater than usual.

During significant weather events, the City prioritizes snow removal on primary and designated secondary roads to ensure access for emergency responders and public transit.

Residents can also prepare for stormy weather by stocking up on extra heating fuel, batteries and prescriptions, charging cell phone and computers, sanding walkways, and having a home preparedness kit including food and water for 72 hours.

You're also encouraged to check on elderly neighbours and keep a vehicle emergency kit handy if you do need to travel.
