Several Municipalities Announce Emergency Brake Closures

In response to the upcoming lockdown, several Niagara municipalities have announced closures and updates to facilities.

Changes currently include the following. 

Port Colborne

  • City Hall - open by appointment only. In-person services will be available for urgent and time sensitive matters. 
  • Vale Health & Wellness Centre - Closed.
  • Public Works - Essential services such as water and road maintenance will continue. 
  • Port Colborne Historical & Marine Museum - Closed. 
  • Port Colborne Public Library - Curbside pickup only. 

St. Catharines

  • City Hall - Closed to the public, but remote services remain available. 
  • St. Catharines Museum & Welland Canals Centre - Closed. 
  • St. Catharines Farmer's Market - Open on Saturdays only from 7:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
  • Arenas - Closed, but the Seymour - Hannah Sports & Entertainment Center will continue with vaccination clinics. 
  • Russell Avenue & Port Weller Community Centres - Closed
  • Older Adult Centres - Closed to public, but Seniors' Centre Without Walls telephone programming will continue. 
  • St. Catharines Kiwanis Aquatics Centre - Closed. 
  • St. Catharines Public Library - Curbside pickup only. 

Welland

  • Welland Arenas - Closed
  • Welland Community Wellness Complex - Closed
  • Welland Farmer's Market - Open with strict rules on social distancing and sanitization procedures
  • Welland Public Library - Curbside pickup and virtual programming only. 
  • Youngs Sportsplex - Indoor and outdoor activities closed. 

Pelham

  • Town Hall - Closed to walk-in public. In-person meetings will only be permitted in exceptional circumstances and must be booked in advance.
  • Meridian Community Center - Closed. 
  • Fonthill branch/Maple Acre Library - Open for curbside pickup, picking up materials sent to the library for printing/copying/scanning. 
  • Parks, Playgrounds, trails - Open, but not cleaned or sanitized.
