RCMP Criticized for Response to 2020 Shooting Rampage in Nova Scotia

Commission says the RCMP didn't recognize eyewitness accounts on the ground when the shootings occurred

The public inquiry into the 2020 mass shooting in Nova Scotia suggests there were many failures by the RCMP.

According to the Mass Casualty Commission's report, officers missed several red flags.

It indicates commanders assumed residents were wrong when they reported seeing the killer in a fully marked RCMP cruiser.

As a result, alerts describing the shooter were not promptly sent out.

The rampage took place on April 18th and 19th, 2020, and left 22 people dead.

The report calls for a ban on semi-automatic handguns and semi-automatic rifles and shotguns that discharge centrefire ammunition.
