Rabies Bait Drops in Niagara Region

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry is doing its part to limit rabies cases in the Niagara.

Helicopters are dropping rabies vaccine baits across the Region, targeting wildlife like raccoons, skunks and foxes.

These baits immunize these animals against rabies two weeks after they chew or swallow the bait.

They are not meant for human, livestock, or pets.

One bait packet might give your pet an upset stomach, but if they eat two, a call to your vet is recommended.

If you find an army green blister pack with a black "do not eat" label, you are asked to keep pets away and leave it alone.
