Provincial Funding to Help Recovery in Fort Erie

Fort Erie is grateful for some provincial funding to help deal with the financial impacts of COVID-19.

The town is getting just under a million dollars in municipal funding and more than $50,000 for transit.
The money comes under Phase 1 of the Safe Restart agreement, which is providing up to $4-billion in relief funding for Ontario's municipalities.
The funding is distributed on a per household basis and looks to offset lost revenues and unexpected spending during the pandemic.
Mayor Wayne Redekop says the funding will help address financial shortfalls and help the town to continue measures to keep residents safe.
CAO Tom Kuchyt says the money will also help mitigate the budget impacts expected beyond this year.
