Province to Launch 22 SmartStart Hubs Across Ontario to Connect Children to Services

Hubs will provide families and children with a variety of child development services.

The Ontario government is creating 22 new SmartStart Hubs to help connect parents with child development services in their communities.

The announcement was made today by Niagara West MPP Sam Oosterhoff and Merrilee Fullerton, Minister of Children, Community and Social Services.

The hubs will provide a single point of entry to child development services, providing support in areas ranging from speech and language pathology, physiotherapy, behavioral supports and more.

Fullerton says this is a much needed service for families.

"When children and families can access these services, we know that children's short and long term outcomes improve."

Families who wish to use SmartStart Hub services will not need a referral, and can approach a hub directly or through another local service provider.

Children's Treatment Centres across Ontario will begin implementing the hubs in April.
