He says it’s a glimmer of hope that couldn’t come soon enough.

Premier Doug Ford has released a small list of businesses that will be able to safely open on Monday, May 4th.

“Based on our framework, on our robust health and safety guidelines, it is clear that right now there are businesses and workplaces that can operate safely.”

Ford says they must comply with public health measures and workplace guidelines.

“They can physically distance their staff and customers, they can put in physical barriers, they can provide contact-free services, or they work outside and are isolated.”

The list includes the following;

- Garden centres and nurseries with curbside pick-up and delivery only

- Lawn care and landscaping companies

- Automatic and self-serve car washes

- Auto dealerships by appointment only

- Additional essential construction projects (municipal projects, schools, broadband and telecommunications, site preparation, etc)

Niagara’s golf courses and marinas will be able to start preparing for the 2020 season, but they will not be able to open to the public yet.

Ford is hoping to allow other businesses to open in the near future.
