Province Expanding Degree Options at Publicly Assisted Colleges

Province giving colleges the option to develop new three year degree programs and additional four-year degree programs in key sectors.

Ontario's public colleges can now develop new three-year degree programs and additional four year programs in key sectors, in order to address gaps in the province's labour needs.

Jill Dunlop, Minister of College and Universities, made the announcement today, noting the new programs will help support Ontario's auto sector, and build highways, hospitals, long term care homes and more.

Colleges will be allowed to develop new three year degree programs in an applied area of study.

The cap on degree programs that colleges can offer will be raised by five percent for all publicly assisted colleges.
