Port Dover Preparing for Friday the 13th

Officials call it a non event, but are making plans to handle scores of bikers

If you are travelling the QEW this morning you will probably see a lot more motorcycles on the highway than usual.

Today is Friday the 13th, which according to tradition means bikers from across the province hit the road to spend the day in Port Dover.

The tradition, which began in 1981, has continued and despite calls from town officials to keep the day on the down low because of the pandemic, businesses in the lakeside town are preparing for the arrival of hundreds of motorcycles and their riders.

To play it safe some businesses will be setting up outside stands to sell their Friday the 13th tchotchke.

Norfolk County officials tweeting out, "Despite Friday the 13th in Port Dover being a non-event, regular road closures will still be in place for safety reasons."
