Niagara police issued 77 tickets during a recent speed enforcement campaign.
From June 19th to the 26th, the NRP issued 77 tickets in Niagara-on-the-Lake as part of the Safe Driving Initiative.
Offences included speeding, driving without a license, and G1 driver unaccompanied by a fully licensed driver.
Police are also informing the public that effective tomorrow, Ontario is implementing the Moving Ontarians More Safely Act (MOMS Act), as part of the Ontario Highway Traffic Act.
The MOMS Act was designed to target unsafe driving practices such as street racing and stunt and aggressive driving in the province.
Anyone caught street racing or stunt driving faces a license suspension between 7 and 30 days, and vehicle impoundment from 7 to 14 days.
If convicted, offenders also face a license suspension of 1 to 3 years for the first offence, 3 to 10 years for the second, and a lifetime suspension on the third offence.
Motorists caught going 40 km/hr above the limit in areas with posted speed limits of 80 km/hr or less will be charged with stunt driving.
