Police Seeking Suspect in Thorold Sexual Assault

Detectives looking for possible witnesses in alleged sexual assault involving a minor.

Police continue to investigate an alleged sexual assault that occurred in Thorold. 

Just before 8:00 p.m. on September 7th, investigators were called to the area of Ormond Street South and Lyndon Street East. 

A group of five kids had been swimming and were walking on a trail near Ormond Street South and Dock Road. 

An unknown man approached the group, and one of the children was sexually assaulted. 

Detectives believe there were possible witnesses in the area within minutes after the incident. 

Anyone in the area with closed circuit security cameras, doorbell or dash cameras, are asked to review their footage for suspicious activity between 6:45 p.m. and 8:45 p.m. on September 7th. 

The NRP has released a video of drone footage where the alleged assault occurred. 

 

The suspect is described as a white male between the ages of 40 and 50. 

He had a medium build with a "belly" and grey/black "scruffy" facial hair. 

He was wearing a ball cap, a grey or black shirt and baggy jeans.
