Police Searching for Three Suspects in Welland Assault

Victim sustains serious injuries

Police began investigating after a man in his 20's was attacked while walking in the area of the Pen Financial building near East Main Street and Burger Street Thursday around 4:00 in the morning.

Police say the victim was approached by a man in his twenties who spoke to him briefly then began attacking him without any provocation. 

Two other men joined in the attack and all three began punching and kicking the victim, who fell to the sidewalk suffering from serious injuries.

The trio left for a brief period and returned to the victim who was lying motionless on the sidewalk and began kicking and punching the victim, again.

The males are believed to have left the area in a dark SUV. 

The victim was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries and is currently in stable condition. 

Detectives are hoping to be able to release photos of the suspects.
