Police Release Sketch of Assault Suspect

Police add the suspect kept calling the victim "Maggie", which is not her name

More details from Niagara Regional police concerning a sexual assault they say happened at the Mel Swart Lake Gibson Park in Thorold.

Police have released a composite sketch of the suspect.

He is white, about 5'11, with a muscular build, 30-40 years old.

It was on September 21, at around 5:30 in the afternoon, along a hiking trail when police say the assault took place.

It was interrupted when a woman and her daughter walked up.  Police are asking that woman to come forward.

Prior to the woman walking up, police say the suspect kept calling the victim Maggie, which is not her name.  Police believe this name may have relevance for the suspect.

Police add the suspect is about 200-220lbs, with brown eyes, a tanned complexion and freckles on his cheeks.  He has light, brown short hair and a moustache, adding he is clean cut and well groomed.

The suspect was wearing a charcoal grey hooded sweatshirt, with an unknown white logo over the left side chest area, and white drawstrings in the hood.

He was also wearing blue jeans.
