Police Chief noted 2 recent incidents, with prevalence of guns
There's concern from the Niagara regional police chief over what he calls a prevalence of violent acts involving guns.
Bryan MacCulloch gave a report to the police services board last week, and pointed to a disturbing kidnapping, in which a teenaged boy was taken from a home in Wainfleet.
"Where the suspects armed with knives and firearms, attempted to take a second male against his will... at least one shot was fired during the incident," he says.
The Chief adds two 16-year-old boys, an 18-year-old man and 20-year-old man are charged with kidnapping and gun offenses.
He also mentioned another incident, when they caught an impaired driver seen swerving over many lanes of Merrittville highway. "Officers then located fentanyl in the suspect's pants pockets, and they observed a shotgun resting in the passenger side of the vehicle. A 20-year-old man is facing several charges including possession of a firearm, careless storage of a firearm."
