Pioneering U.S. General Dies After Contracting COVID-19

Colin Powell's family says he was fully vaccinated

Colin Powell, the country's first African American Secretary of State, has died at the age of 84.

In a Facebook post the general's family says he died of complications from COVID-19.

Powell served as Secretary of State under George W. Bush.

He was also the first African American chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff under President George H.W. Bush
