Pediatrician groups are calling on the Province to open schools on January 17th saying isolation poses a far greater risk to kids than the virus.

Pediatrician groups are calling on the Province to open schools on January 17th.

We have not heard from Premier Doug Ford or Education Minister Stephen Lecce on the issue of online learning, since the the announcement on Monday January 3.

Today, kids in Alberta and BC headed back to class after just one week of online learning. The plan for Ontario was to head back to class on January 17th, however there is speculation online learning could be extended yet again.

The Pediatrics Section of the Ontario Medical Association, the Canadian Paediatric Society and the Pediatricians Alliance of Ontario have sent the Premier and Education Minister an open letter, urging them to open schools.

They say remote learning and isolation can pose a far greater risk to children than the virus itself.

Several parents in the region are refusing to do online learning and calling it a parent strike. The movement has gained a lot of traction on social media as frustrated parents struggle to find a balance between working remotely and dealing with online learning.
