Ontario's Youth Allowed to Provide Photocopies of ID With Vaccine Certificate

Youth under 18 allowed to show photocopies of identification with vaccine passport in Ontario.

Ontario's youth are being allowed to use a digital or photocopied version of their identification when entering businesses requiring vaccine certificates.

As spokesperson for Health Minister Christine Elliott tells Toronto media that such versions of ID are only being permitted for people under 18 years old.

This comes as Restaurants Canada notes that staff have run into difficulties enforcing the vaccine passport system for young people, who are less likely to carry around passports or birth certificated.

Other accepted forms of ID include driver's licenses, health cards and citizenship cards.

Under the vaccine passport system, Ontarians 12 and older must show ID and proof of full vaccination against COVID-19 in order to enter certain non-essential businesses such as movie theatres, gyms and restaurants.
