Ontario Schools to Reopen this September

Students in Niagara and beyond will be back in the classroom this fall.

The Ford Government has unveiled its back to school plan which includes the reopening of all publicly funded elementary schools five days per week.

Each day will include five hours of in-class instruction with lunch and breaks in between.

As for secondary schools, Education Minister Stephen Lecce says most of them will reopen with groups of 15 students alternating between online and in-person classes.

Secondary schools with low risk profiles will be able to reopen five days per week.

Lecce says cloth masks will be provided to every student in the province and they will be mandatory for students in Grades 4 to 12.

They will be optional for students in Kindergarten to Grade 3 and those with medical conditions will be exempt.

The province is also investing over $300 million in order to hire 500 new public health nurses for schools, 900 new custodians to step up cleaning efforts and to provide the necessary supplies to staff and students.
