Ontario Schools to Remain Closed Until May 4th

Students in Niagara and across the rest of the province will stay home for at least another month due to COVID-19.

The Ford Government has decided to extend the closure of publicly funded schools until at least May 4th.

Private schools, licensed childcare centres and EarlyON programs will remain closed until April 13th because the Declaration of Emergency will only allow those closures to be extended two-weeks at a time.

Premier Doug Ford says he’s following the advice of medical experts and he’s prepared to extend the closures further if need be.

Education Minister Stephen Lecce says the second phase of Learn at Home will re-establish teacher-led learning and leverage digital resources.

He adds teachers will have to prepare final report cards for all students and laptops and devices will be distributed from schools as needed.
