Ontario School Boards Required to Offer Virtual Learning Next Year

Due to pandemic uncertainty, virtual learning will be available for one more year in Ontario.

School boards in Ontario will be required to offer virtual learning as an option for one more school year.

Government officials say they want parents to have one more year of choice, though investments are being made to make schools safe for in-person learning.

Education Minister Stephen Lecce announcing today that the province is upping funding to school boards next year to $26.1 billion, which comes to an extra $13,059 per student from last year.

The province is also bringing back EQAO tests for Grades 3 and 6, as well as putting $175 million into tutoring programs to address impacts of the pandemic on learning.
