Ontario Reports 1,536 New COVID-19 Infections

As the province confirms over 1,500 new COVID-19 cases, officials say the disease's positivity rate in Ontario has reached its highest level in months.

Ontario is confirming 1,536 new COVID-19 infections today, along with one more death.

Officials say the province's positivity rate is at 5.5 percent.

Individuals who aren't fully vaccinated account for 634 of today's cases, while 809 are fully immunized.

The remaining 93 individuals have an unknown vaccination status.

Health officials report 253 individuals hospitalized with the virus, with 161 in ICUs, but over ten percent of hospitals haven't submitted data to the Daily Bed Census, so the numbers are expected to be higher.

To date, over 24.4 million vaccinations have been administered.

About 90.3 percent of Ontarians 12 and older have one dose and 87.6 percent have two.
