New modelling shows a best case scenario of 500 cases a day or less all summer and a worst case of around 2,500 per day by mid August.
Health Officials in Ontario are warning of the potential of a 4th wave with the new Delta variant.
The updated modelling released today states we should continue to see the active case counts decline over the next 10 days.
Health Officials did warn the Delta variant will be the dominate variant in the summer. It is highly transmissible and does not seem to be slowed down by the first dose of vaccine. This is why the Province is speeding up the second doses in areas where the Delta variant are prevalent right now.
Starting on Monday, anyone who got a first shot on or before May 9 in Toronto, Waterloo, Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph, Timmins, Halton, York and Peel will be eligible for a second dose. This is a full month ahead of schedule.
The modelling unveiled today shows a best case scenario of keeping the daily case numbers under 500 all summer. The medium case scenario would see the daily cases hit a 1,000 people per day by August. The worst case scenario would have around 2,500 cases per day by mid August.
