Ontarians 60 Plus Can Start Booking Fourth Shot This Morning

Eligibility opening up as experts say Ontario has entered 6th wave of pandemic

This morning at 8:00 you can start booking a fourth shot if you are part of the Indigenous community or if you are 60 or older.

The additional booster shot is recommended to be administered five months after the first one.

The expanded eligibility comes just as the head of the province's Science Advisory Table says Ontario is most likely seeing over 100,000 cases of COVID a day.

Dr. Peter Jüni says the estimate is based on the amount of the novel coronavirus seen in Ontario's wastewater, which experts have been relying on since the province cut back on PCR testing last year.

Juni noting the current spike looks just like the fifth wave of the virus that was fueled by the Omicron variant which peaked in January,

Niagara's Acting Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Mustafa Hirji tweeting out yesterday “There once was a little wavelet that no one believed in. They said she'd never amount to much—a "little spike" at most. Just ignore her. But with eyes turned, she steadily burned, & grew into a full-blown wave. Now she strives to grow even larger than her older brother Omicron!”

Hirji is among a growing number of medical professionals in the province calling on the Ford government to give some direction on how we will manage this sixth wave.
