One Cyclist Killed, Two Injured After Being Hit By Car in St. Catharines

One cyclist killed, two more injured after being hit by a car.

One male cyclist was killed and two other cyclists injured after they were struck by a vehicle in west St. Catharines last night.

Niagara Regional Police said the three cyclists were struck by a white Ford Edge around 6:42 p.m. on Seventh Street Louth between South Service Road and Second Avenue Louth. Police, fire and paramedics responded to the scene.

All three cyclists were treated on site and transported by Niagara Emergency Medical Services to hospital.

Police said one of the cyclists, a 36 year old man, was in critical condition and died despite resuscitation efforts on scene and at the hospital.

The other two cyclists, a 36 year old man and a 42 year old man, remain in hospital with serious injuries. 

All three men are Mexican residents working at a local farm. 

The cause of the crash remains unclear, and no charges have been laid as of yet. 

The identities of the three victims are not being released. 

Roads were re-opened last night after being closed for several hours.
