One Arrested, Two License Suspensions Issued Following RIDE Checks in St. Catharines and Niagara Falls

Police stop about 600 cars during RIDE check points on Friday night.

One person has been arrested following a pair of RIDE checks in Niagara. 

Police say on Friday night, about 600 cars were stopped in St. Catharines and Niagara Falls. 

Thirteen drivers were asked to provide a breath sample for analysis. 

One of the drivers failed and was arrested.

Their vehicle was towed for seven days, and a 90 day license suspension was issued. 

Two other people registered an "alert" and their licenses were suspended for three days. 

Tickets were also issued for other traffic offences, including one driver who tried to avoid the check point. 

A traffic stop was conducted, and police discovered the driver had a suspended license and no valid insurance.
