NRP Reporting Historic Drug Bust

Routine traffic stop leads to major fentanyl seizure.

NRP reporting the seizure began last week, when OPP stopped a vehicle for stunting after clocking the car doing 160 km/h on the QEW in the town of Lincoln.

A search of the vehicle turned up 1,025 fentanyl tablets, 25 grams of cocaine and $1,400 in cash.

Police then searched a home at Rykert and Louth Streets in St. Catharines. a residence in Lincoln at Prince William Street and Queen Victoria Avenue in Lincoln, as well as a residence in the area of Scholfield Road and Olden Avenue in Niagara Falls.

Inside the Niagara Falls residence police discovered a massive pill production operation along with 400 pounds of an unknown powder, 100 kgs of a cutting agents, 20,000 fentanyl pills, and 160 grams of cocaine.

Police say the drugs are worth an estimated $3.6 million, making it the largest seizure of fentanyl in Niagara history.

Officers have arrested and charged 56 year old Peter Caponcini.

The suspect is facing possession and drug production charges.
