NRP Looking for Suspect in Overnight Stabbing

One person has been sent to hospital

Niagara Regional Police are investigating a stabbing in St. Catharines. 

It happened early this morning on Forster Street near Scott.  

NRP say two masked men confronted a homeowner in a driveway, one was armed with a long gun the other with a knife.  

The pair forced their way into the home where one resident was stabbed.  

The victim was treated by paramedics and sent to an out of region trauma centre to treatment. 

Other people in the house managed to disarm and restrain one of the suspects, the other fled.

Police arrested one person and are currently looking for the other suspect who was last seen running towards Scott Street. 

The suspect is described as a white male, between 20 and 25 years about 5'6" tall with an athletic build.

He was wearing a ski mask, dark jacket with yellow reflectors on the shoulders and dark jeans. 

Police have released the identity of the man arrested. 

Michael David Mulligan, 22, of no fixed address faces the following charges: 

  • Break Enter and Indictable Offence (Assault with a Weapon)
  • Possession Weapon Dangerous Purpose
  • Pointing a Firearm
  • Disguised with Intent
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order

Mulligan will appear in court this afternoon. 

The NRP is asking nearby residents and business with closed circuit security cameras, doorbell video cameras, or dash cameras to take a look at footage recorded between 12:30 a.m. and 2:30 a.m. on September 16th.
