Police say trees cut down and broken glass found on bicycle course.

Niagara Regional Police are investigating reports of damage to the Canada Summer Games Mountain Bike Course.

The course is on private property in St. Catharines in the Glenridge/Western Hill area.

Police say several incidents of damage have taken place between July 9th and July 30th.

On July 9th, between 20-25 trees were cut down for the believed intention of altering the course route.

On July 19th, a large tree stump was found in the landing area of a jumping platform, and tree branches were bent across the path.

Broken glass was found on the bicycle course on July 24th, and on July 30th, about six pounds of nails were found on the bike course.

Officers believe the damage was done intentionally.

The NRP says anyone caught damaging the bike course may be subject to criminal charges.

Anyone with information is asked to call the lead investigator, Constable Luke Lindley of the CORE Unit at 905-688-4111, option #3, extension #1009659..
