North Niagara Under Winter Storm Watch, South Niagara Under Special Weather Statement

Environment Canada calling for heavy snow starting late tomorrow afternoon or or early in the evening

Another blast of winter weather is on the way.

A winter storm watch has been issued for north Niagara, and a special weather statement is in effect for south Niagara.

Environment Canada is calling for heavy snow across the region late tomorrow afternoon or evening into Saturday morning.

South Niagara is expected to get 10 to 15 cm, and North Niagara will get 10 to 20 cm.

Temperatures in some areas may remain above zero during the snowfall, which could limit accumulations slightly.

The snow may be mixed with ice pellets at times.

The weather is due to a Texas low making its way through southern Ontario.

The forecast also calls for strong winds.

Drivers may experience reduced visibility, and surfaces like highways, roads sidewalks and parking lots may be slippery.

Meanwhile, the National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for Buffalo.

The forecast calls for moderate to heavy snow late tomorrow afternoon and into Friday night.

Several inches of snow is expected in the area.
